At the end of October, the first Fishing Tournament for Geostroy’s Grand Prize took place at a pond near the village of Doganovo, Elin Pelin Municipality. The event was attended by representatives of Geostroy’s administrative staff and employees working on the company’s construction sites.

A special jury was appointed to see to strict compliance with the rule: float fishing using only one fishing rod. The participants’ fishing location was chosen by lot and in the course of three hours they were trying to fill up their fishing sieves and catch the largest fish. The contestants received fan support from their colleagues and families, especially from their children who were wild with excitement to catch ‘the goldfish’.

At the end of the competition, the chairman of the jury measured and weighted the fish catches and announced the winners. The first-place prize in “The Biggest Catch” category was handed to Konstantin Petkov - Project Manager in Metro Construction and the second-place prize went to Nikolai Tsenov - Project Manager in Civil Construction. The prize for the largest fish was given to Daniel Chobanov who managed to catch a carp weighing 3.5 kg.

The Fishing Tournament at the pond near Doganovo village was the first official event hosted by Geostroy’s Fishing Club. The club members have set an ambitious goal to hold fishing contests on a regular basis at various lakes or ponds where the participants will compete in different categories. With the implementation of such initiatives, Geostroy seeks to enhance employee commitment and improve their job satisfaction.
