Geostroy completed the restoration and general overhaul of Chemist Cultural Centre

Geostroy completed the restoration and major repair of Chemist Cultural Centre with a total floorage area of 3,800 m2 and the surrounding green park area in the town of Dimitrovgrad. The building is one of the iconic urban landmarks, part of the immovable cultural heritage – 3rd March Square Ensemble. The centre was built in the mid-twentieth century and has not been repaired since then.
The official water-blessing and ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Dimitrovgrad Municipality Ivo Dimov, M.Eng. Clavdia Toncheva – Project Manager, M.Eng. Tsvetoslav Petkov – Executive Director of Geostroy, Mr Yavor Anastasov – Project Auditor, a representative of the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works, the project team, municipal councilors, and citizens.
‘The general overhaul was implemented under the Operational Programme Regions in Growth aiming at developing cultural infrastructure, financed with earmarked funds. Throughout the project execution, we have faced various challenges including the COVID-19 pandemic, inflation, but today we are delighted to have this opportunity to open the fully renovated complex,’ said Mayor Ivo Dimov during the opening ceremony.
‘The building is a monument of culture. All architecture details on the facade and interior premises were restored. New fire alarm and emergency warning systems, as well as central heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems, were installed. The old plumbing installation was completely replaced by a new water supply and sewerage system. All floorings were renovated, including those in the music hall, the library, and various other premises,’ said M.Eng. Clavdia Toncheva, Project Manager on the part of Dimitrovgrad Municipality.
