Geostroy AD is building a New Student Center at the American College of Sofia
The construction of a new school complex at the American College of Sofia (ACS) started with an official groundbreaking ceremony on 21 September 2016. Geostroy AD was appointed the contractor of the project “Reconstruction, Overhaul, Renovation and Extension of an Existing Building” after a multistage open tender procedure.
The event, organized by ACS and America for Bulgaria Foundation (ABF), took place in front of the prominent Ostrander Hall. Among the official guests were the Ambassador of the United States of America – the Honorable Eric S. Rubin, Deputy Minister of Education and Science – Mr. Diyan Stamatov, Deputy Minister of the Interior – Mr. Tsvyatko Georgiev, Deputy Mayor of Sofia Municipality – Dr. Todor Chobanov, ACS and ABF trustees, the Executive Director of Geostroy – M.Eng. Vladimir Vutov and senior management representatives of GEOTECHMIN Group, faculty, partners, friends, many parents as well as the full student body.
The first of its kind new construction project has been implemented on the College campus since 1930s. It has been made possible thanks to the America for Bulgaria Foundation, which provided nearly 80% of the project total cost. The remainder was raised with the extraordinary support of the American Schools and Hospitals Abroad (ASHA) program of USAID and other private and institutional donors who have made possible this transformational project through their most generous gifts and grants.
The construction works on the project are scheduled to take 14 months. The new student center will include a library/media center, new performing arts auditorium, cafeteria, other new facilities and equipment to support teaching and learning, and will offer ACS students the chance for highest-level educational, extracurricular and entertainment activities corresponding to their impressive academic achievements in Bulgaria and abroad.
