Construction of a new metro station at Obelya Railway Stop
Geostroy, part of GEOTECHMIN GROUP, has been executing the design and construction of a new metro station between Lyulin and Obelya Residential Districts under the project Connecting Metro Line 2 with Obelya Metro Depot and Construction of a New Metro Station at Sofia – Kyustendil Railway Line from km 0+000 to km 0+145 and from km 0+210 to km 0+794.291.
With a total floorage area of 4,100 m2, the new metro station will be located between Slivnitsa Metro Station and Obelya Metro Station, in immediate proximity to Obelya Railway Station. It will enable passengers using Metro Lines 1 and 2 to have a convenient connection to Sofia – Kyustendil railway line. For this purpose, the existing double-track tunnel will be fully reconstructed and new entrances will be built. All relevant architectural and interior works will also be completed.
The metro route will start from Obelya Metro Depot and will include a covered aboveground metro section (154 m), a covered metro ramp with three types of structures in total length of 116.35 m, a tunnel built by the ‘cut-and-cover’ method (281.22 m), and a tunnel beneath the existing railway line which will be built using the ‘Milan method’.
The contract scope also includes all related systems and installations – a railway track, a third rail, external and internal water supply and sewerage systems, HVAC, transport automation, a dispatching system, telecommunication wiring, external and internal power supply utilities.
