Modernisation of the Railway Sections Plovdiv-Krumovo and Plovdiv-Skutare
At the end of July 2020, Geostroy Lantania Consortium comprising one of the leading Bulgarian construction companies Geostroy AD and the renowned Spanish company Lantania CA signed a contract with the National Railway Infrastructure Company for modernisation of the railway sections Plovdiv-Krumovo and Plovdiv-Skutare.
Under the project, the Consortium will modernise a rail track, overhead catenary, signalling and telecommunications systems in the railway sections Plovdiv-Krumovo and Plovdiv-Skutare, including the railway stations Plovdiv Wagon Yard, Krumovo, Skutare and Trakia Inspection Point.
The project scope includes: design, construction and assembly works for modernisation of a rail track and related facilities (including underpasses, overpasses and footbridges), overhead catenary, signalling and telecommunication systems in the railway sections Plovdiv-Krumovo and Plovdiv-Skutare, including the railway stations Plovdiv Wagon Yard, Krumovo, Skutare and Trakia Inspection Point. In the course of upgrading the signalling and telecommunication systems, the route relay interlocking systems in Skutare and Trakia railway stations will be replaced by computer-based interlocking systems with LED signals, axle counters and new railroad turnouts, as well as new main and backup power supply. The control of Trakia Inspection Point will be exercised from the computer-based interlocking system in Skutare station.
3 new road overpasses for pedestrian crossing will be built on two levels. They are intended to comply with the needs and requirements of people with reduced mobility. Construction of noise reduction facilities is envisaged in the urban areas, as well as safety fences along the entire railway line and new drainage systems.
The project “Modernisation of the rail track, overhead catenary, signalling and telecommunication systems in Plovdiv railway station and construction of a communication and transmission system under the railway area of “Plovdiv railway station” is part of the project “Development of Plovdiv Railway Junction” and is co-financed under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF).
